Islamic Centers in Puerto Rico

The Islamic Centers of Puerto Rico is a community where muslims can gather for prayers and to talk about their culture. This is a religious/culture community but also a virtual one, if you go to http://www.pupr.edu/msa/mosques.html you can find some mosques (the church of the muslims) that are in Puerto Rico. There are mesques at Fajardo, Ponce, Vega Alta and other towns. The muslims gather at these mesues to either pray or seek answers fro the Sheik (some type of priest). I decides to write about this because I find their culture very interesting and their religion very fascinating. These people pray to Allah, wich means God in arab, and have many rules and customs very different to ours. For example, women must cover their hair and body, because it can only be seen by their husbands.Men can have up to four wives, as long as he can mantain them all and treat them equally. Muslims cannot drink alcohol. Muslims can't eat pig meat, and many other things that are different. The Koran is their bible, they don't believe that Jesus is the son of God, but that he is a prophet of Allah. They follow the rules of the Koran exactly as it's written. Although they are different they are still people, and they love to do big celebration for birthdays, weddings and even when family menbers arrive for a visit. So if you ever want to visit these centers just go to the link above and try to find one closest to home, and remember altought these people are different they feel and have the same needs just like we do, so try to be nice and not to offend anyone.

SPCA

The SPCA is a helping association that fights against animal cruelty and neglect founded by Pierre Barnoti. They help animals that are abandoned, mistreated and abused in all the world, but are more actively in the United States. They give shelter to homeless pets, take care of abused ones and nurse the ones that have been neglected by theirs owners back to health, so they can find happy, new homes. You can learn more about this association at www.spcai.org and see the work they do to help animals.
Personally, I really love this association, because I am an animal lover and I always try to help animals in need. Sometimes I take food to street dogs or cats, and I always make sure that the people around me know that I am pro-animal so if they treat their pets or any animal badly I will not tolerate it, and there shall be consequences. I would love to be part of this group and ,in fact, there is one here in Puerto Rico, hopefully one day I can help save lives that are in need, because no matter how you put it. animals feel and need the same things we do. We are not so different at all.

In this blog I shall talk about different types of communities around the world. I have always loved to see different cultures and now I can finally research about them and share with the web world what I find interesting and unusual. I shall mention the ones that I'm mostly interested in and the ones I find particularly peculiar.
